Shan has dedicated almost her entire career to civil-litigation defense in the form of both insurance defense and self-insured representation. She has extensive experience trying cases in both state and federal court, as well as arbitration proceedings.  This experience includes one of Texas’s first “Zoom jury trials,” in which Shan secured a complete defense verdict in a rear-end collision case defending a well-known plumbing company.  In that case, the plaintiff asked the jury for $7,000,000, after the plaintiff had seven disc levels fused over the course of two spine surgeries.

Shan has experience handling trucking, company-vehicle, oilfield, product, premises-liability, fire, and construction-defect cases.  Shan is known for her strong working relationships with her Claims Partners, from many large insurance carriers.  Her clients have included many large companies, such as Bill Miller Bar-B-Q, H-E-B, Labatt Foods, and Dillard’s.

Shan received a Bachelor of Arts in both Political Science and Spanish from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts in 2003. She attended Saint Mary’s University School of Law, receiving her Juris Doctor in 2007. While at Saint Mary’s she was a member of the Mock Trial team and clerked for Judge Thomas Price of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (Texas’s highest court for review of criminal matters).

Shan and her husband Matt have two boys. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading and crafting.
